TEF – TCF
OUI prepares learners in-person and online to succeed in TEF – TCF exams.
What is TEF ?
Created in 1998 by the French Language Centre of the CCI Paris Ile-de-France, TEF (Test d’Evaluation de Français) is an international test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French.
Why take TEF ?
- To study in France (TEF Study in France)
- To obtain the French citizenship (TEF for Naturalization)
- To Immigrate to Canada and to obtain the Canadian citizenship (TEF Canada)
- To immigrate to Quebec (TEFAQ)
- To certify one’s level of French at work, to assess the employees’ level of French through recruitment, to position students for training or for study abroad, etc.
What are the tests?
TEF is conducted in print or electronically (computer-based). No prior degree is required to sit for the exam. The candidate must be 16 years and above.
The objective of TEF is to evaluate the French skills of the candidate.
TEF = 1 test in 5 parts:

- Written Expression
- Vocabulary and Structures
2 oral tests:
- Listening Comprehension
- Oral Expression

After the test and after correction of tests, a certificate of results, which is valid for two years, is given to the applicant. It shows the scores on each section.
If desired, the candidate may take the test as many times as he/she wants. However, a two-month waiting period is required between two successive sessions.

How to prepare for TEF – TCF exams ?
OUI prepares learners in-person and online to succeed in TEF – TCF exams. The learners can register for our in-person or online TEF – TCF course. At the end of the course, learners can appear for TEF – TCF exam at Alliance française. TEF – TCF exam sessions are organized 4-5 times a year. Learners are free to register directly for the exam if they think they are ready to sit for it.
We give special focus on communication skills, written as well as oral. We cover all five parts of TEF – TCF exams.
We offer both extensive and intensive courses of various duration; both individual and group classes. Admissions are open on first come first served basis. Please contact OUI French Language Institute for class days and timings.
We offer study material, practice material and practice papers for TEF – TCF courses. However, the learners are free to purchase/bring in any study material on their own.
